We are a group of 7 locals who have volunteered to do an intensive training course with East Midlands Ambulance service & St Johns Ambulance, and are being sponsered by Castle Donington Rotary Club for the 1st year as Community First Responders. We would very much like to inform the local community of our existence, especially when a 999 call is made, and a member of the responder group is dispatched to commence treatment prior to an ambulance arriving.
Castle Donington Community First Responder Group
First responders are a group of volunteers who, having been trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service & St John Ambulance, respond to life threatening conditions in and around Castle Donington.
We currently have a group of five responders who provide cover as and when they can and during our duty periods we are mobilised by Ambulance Control to incidents in our area. At the time of writing we have attended some 57 incidents ranging from chest pain to cardiac arrest.
We are a very keen to recruit other volunteers so that we can provide even greater cover, there are roles to play for those who feel that attending actual incidents is not for them, so please come along and see what it's all about.
If you would rather contact us by Email, at cdcfr@live.co.uk we will be very pleased to hear from you.
